Cinque Terre - Italian Riviera

The final stop on our vacation was in Cinque Terre, a stretch of coast that has five towns that are on the hillside of the Mediterranean. This was a wonderful way to end an amazing trip, however, when we first arrived we were in a bit of shock going from the relative quiet of the Alps to the tourist mecca of the Italian Riviera! We quickly adjusted and enjoyed the spectacular seafood, the warm Mediterranean Sea and the beauty of no schedule.

Riomaggiore - where we stayed

Monterosso al Mare

Leaving Monterosso on a hiking trail to Vernazza

The hike was beautiful, but it was a HOT day and we were glad to reach our destination.

This is a look down the coast - each alcove is another town.

Olive trees getting ready to be harvested

Vernazza

We asked the wrong person to take our picture - the beautiful town of Vernazza was suppose to be behind us, but she just got hillside. The picture above is what we were hoping for. :)

Enjoying risotto del mare

Amazing gelato - mine is on the left pistachio and cinnamon, Pete's is cherry

Manarola

Hillside above Corniglia

Olive oil and wine tasting - we came home with some of each, yum! We are looking forward to enjoying the wine together after Baby Boy arrives.

Dinner with Langoustine Pasta, and they served GF pasta!!

Manarola at night

We spent our only rainy day in Genova - not a spectacular city. This is in front of Christopher Columbus' childhood home.

Via Garibaldi - Palace Row - We toured three of the palaces, they were not so much palaces any more, but more art museums.

Grape movers that are used on the hillside like little trains.

Getting ready to order an almond italian soda - so good!

The sea was a little rough.

Pete enjoying lemoncino while I had my italian soda.

Farinata - chick pea pizza that is naturally GF.

Beach at Riomaggiore

Bronskis on the beach - this rock beach was not the most comfortable beach we have ever been on, but at least the rocks were smooth!
