Hiking Mount Garfield

The day after Daddy's race we enjoyed a local hike up Mount Garfield. It was only 2 miles each way, but 2,000 feet of elevation up. The girls did great and hiked up about two thirds of the way until we needed to utilized the backpacks. The hike was intense, but we made it and so did Daddy on tired legs!

At the trailhead ready to climb.

The start of the climb. Marin is ready and raring to go!

Yeah! I love to hike!

Charlotte and Mommy on their way up.

Just to give you an idea of scale, the people closest in the picture are Charlotte and me and there are a few other people on the ridge behind us.

Taking a rest waiting for Mommy and Charlotte.

Big girl hiking all by herself.

A little scrambling on the steep sections.

This looks like a good resting rock. The furthest point on the left hand side of the photo is the summit.

Look at this hollow rock!

Do you see happy Altai?

Marin just a little dirty!

Backpack time.

A very sleepy rider.

Lunch time.

Mommy and Marin walking next to the cliffs.

The view from the summit.

Wow, that is a long way down.

We all made it!

Daddy's First Race 2013 - Fruita, CO

Last weekend Daddy had his first race of the season and it was a doozy! The terrain was beautiful and the field of competitors was very strong. Daddy placed 27th out of 131 finishers. He had a good race and the girls were super cheerers.

Early morning start and everyone is ready.

A little chilly...

And they're off! Daddy is in the bright yellow near the middle.

Charlotte having her own race.

Marin's turn.

Practicing cheering

I'm soooo happy to be here!

Is he coming?

There he is!

Go Daddy Go!

He was a little too hot...Marin is not quite sure what to do with this smelly shirt.

There he goes.

At the next aid station where we waited the girls figured out that if they hold their hand out the runners will give them a high five.

Daddy coming in for the hit!

Crossing the finish line. Nice run!

Checking out the finishers medal.

At camp after the race. What a great first weekend out for the season.

Enjoying a little walk along the campground. We were in a really cool canyon.

Using a telescope to try to see big horn sheep on the hillside.

I'm balancing!!
