Kids in the Kitchen

Marin and Charlotte each decided they wanted to make something all on their own and expect for a little help with equipment and ingredients, they did! Marin made a strawberry ice cream and whipped cream pie and Charlotte made a chocolate cake with vanilla frosting. That means yummy dessert without the work for Mommy and Daddy!

Two busy bees in the kitchen.

Cooking is fun!

That cake is coming along nicely little baker.

Marin's finished pie, both desserts turned into birthday celebrations just for fun!

Frosting a cake can be tricky.

Beautiful job Charlotte, and it looks like your birthday might be coming up soon!

Marin approves.

Master builder, tada!

This balancing act takes involves major concentration.

The next morning we had dueling pancake makers.

Father's Day Weekend Backpacking Trip

For Father's Day weekend we went on our first backpacking trip with the kids! This was an amazing trip and the views were breathtaking. We went above Guanella Pass to Silver Dollar Lake and Murray Lake, and even though the trails were busy during the hike up, we all had a blast! I tried to be selective with the photos, but in the end there are still too many...

Ready to go!

Thanks Daddy for being our pack mule.

And the hike begins.

crossing the first snowfield we came to.

Go little Charlotte! Altai is loving this!!

The girls are getting more comfortable crossing the snow safely.

Break and snack time.

Like old times, only better!

We made it to the first lake - Silver Dollar Lake.

It is a good think Altai's food is in a plastic bag!

Hiking up to the second lake.

Altai truly is a mountain dog and loves this so much.

There she is! Murray Lake and where we will camp.

Do you see our little tent in this lovely alpine scene?

Time to play in the lake - amazingly no one fell in, except Altai, but that was intentional.

Exploring with Daddy.

We love you Daddy! Thanks for cooking dinner.

The kids finding "secret hideouts".

Timothy digging into the snacks.

Sunset, time to get in the tent.

Good morning!

This little guy woke up and chatted for a while, put on his sister's hat and my sunglasses and went back to sleep!

Happy Father's Day!

All packed up and heading back to the car.

Timothy hiked almost all the way back to the car!!

The girls took a selfie.

Back home after a super weekend.
