Barnyard Critter Days

A few weeks ago we had the great opportunity to visit the Agricultural Heritage site in Longmont where Barnyard Critter Days were taking place. We are often so removed from farms and animals and where our food comes from that this was a super experience for the kids and they loved it.

Watching a bee hive in action

Nice goat

Marin was not so sure she liked "Sky" being so close to her.

Trying out a real tractor.

Charlotte needed to stretch to reach the wheel.

Watching a blacksmith at work making brands that would be used on cattle.

The girls each had the opportunity to give him directions on what shapes to use and how to put them together to make their own brands. Standing back from the smoke.

The bottom brand on the left is Charlotte's  brand and Marin's is on the bottom right. The girls were surprisingly really into this!!

Out for a wagon ride behind these two beautiful horses.

Hard at work making animal shaped name tags. Charlotte chose a pig and Marin a cow.

A simulator ride of a real tractor.

Miniature horses - we saw them get their hooves trimmed.

Watching and helping wash wool, just shorn from a sheep, in clean water. The lanolin smell left on their hands was impressively strong!

Father's Day Weekend

On Saturday of Father's Day weekend Phoebe and Benjamin came over to play while Jess and Dave went to a wedding, and Daddy took Marin to a birthday party (his first solo daddy birthday party outing). On Sunday we had a nice relaxing day. The girls wanted Daddy to open his presents outside and after church we stayed around the house and had grilled pizza. Marin even tried to ride her bike without training wheels.

Story time with Daddy

Ordinary Summer Days

We have been having a super summer so far with plenty of water play, outdoor exploration and fun times! Here are pictures from our day to day playing.
Ready for a day at the zoo

Checking out the seals with John and Thomas

Cool Monkey right overhead!

Black bears

What a fun trip and a great finish with pink cotton candy.

Heading to the playground down the street. Doesn't everyone wear beads to the playground?

Little monkey Marin and her friend Nareese

Such a big jump!

Charlotte with Nate

Altai enjoying the creek.

A few times a week you can find us at our favorite spot on Left Hand Creek, just a 5 minute walk from our house.

Can they make it all the way to the other side?

Hooray!

Now the tricky part...heading back.

Ready for another bike ride.

Matching pedicures

There is nothing like sister love! Squeeze!!

Bronski #3 is busy growing - 10 weeks

Kisses and hugs from big sisters.

Focused painting on their "Brinkman shakers" (we copied their craft because they girls wanted to give it a try)

A fun spot to have a treat??

Marin's rub burn on her head with Charlotte's on her nose - two peas in a pod.

The melon has been fantastic!
More melon at Roosevlet Park with the young families at church, enjoying some live music.

The girls want to wear their matching "fancy" dresses to this picnic!

So much fun with Daddy.

Our little elf

Dance party for two. Marin has been the DJ lately and she picks some great music (mostly based on color of the cd) that we have not listened to in a long time!

Putting the finishing touches on our masterpiece!  Every blog we own on one tower!!

Pool time - our favorite afternoon activity.
