Vacation in Colorado

Earlier this month we thad such a wonderful time visiting CO and seeing our friends.  I mentally prepared myself to be disappointed in Colorado because I thought I built it up in my mind over time with how great it was, but I was not disappointed in the least!  It is a beautiful and special place and we were so happy to be able to come back and visit.  We stayed with our great friends the Brinkmans and at times it almost felt like we had never been away.  Here are some pictures from our adventures!

Hula Hoopers

Look at John go!

I think Daddy has the hang of this.

Morning bubble blowing with all the kiddos.

Squish Pete/Daddy time

So much fun at the South Boulder community center playground.  John, Thomas, Marin and Charlotte are on the tire, and it looks like the Mommies are having fun too!

Marin wanted to give Daddy and Charlotte a turn.

Zipping along

Charlotte's turn

Snack time

Charlotte and Thomas watching the big kids fly their kites.

Look at John go!

Marin's kite is off the ground!

A large part of our trip was dining at all of our favorite places.  A trip to Boulder would not be complete without a meal at Hapa Sushi.

Playing on the Pearl Street Mall

Ready to run in the "pop" fountain on Pearl Street.

Charlotte was not so sure about this, but after a while she decided it looked like a lot of  fun.

Time to get clean

Memory time

Little helpers making pancakes

Yummy breakfast on the new deck.

Our breakfast chefs

A farmer's market snack.

Fun in Boulder Creek on a hot Saturday.

Two babies!!

Brinkman family shot.

Bronskis

Jamba Juice that is just the right size for little hands.

Hmmm, is this one the right size??  Charlotte is a big orange dream machine fan.

Marin is ready for church with a blankie shawl.

Phoebe and Charlotte were fascinated with the curtains.  At times all you would see were little feet sticking out from under the curtain with laughing silhouettes.

Marin put herself to bed, none of the babies were happy to have their picture taken and John didn't know what to make of this, but we could not resist getting all the kids together for a photo.  John, Phoebe, Thomas, Charlotte and Marin

Now those little babies are happier!

At the end of our trip we spent the night in a hut up by Cameron Pass.  There was a very short walk from our car to the cabin and it worked out perfectly.

Here is Nokhu Hut, which is located with a view of Nokhu Crag.

The day we arrived at Cameron Pass we went on a short hike to a lake.

Marin was very impressed that there was still snow on the ground in places.

Throwing rocks into the lake.

Brrr, that water was cold, but Marin still walked in without hesitation.

Family shot at the lake.

This brave chipmunk came right up to us looking for food.

Playing while Daddy makes dinner.

Grilling up a family favorite... turkey dogs all the way! (King Soopers still carries turkey dogs, which are not available any longer at our grocery store in Poughkeepsie)

The view from our hut.

Daddy with his girls

When we woke up it was pretty chilly outside.  Later this same day the mercury hit 100 in Boulder!!

Ready for our "big" hike to North Mountain.

It was a very steep climb without a trail.  Our car is parked at the road in the background.

This is the view up towards the mountain.  It was a beautiful day.

This is North Diamond Peak.

That is Charlotte and me on the ridge.  We opted to go straight up instead of contouring with Daddy and Marin.

On the summit with a sleeping Charlotte.

Everyone on the summit. The perfect end to a fantastic trip.
