Memorial Day Weekend Camping Trip in Fruita, CO

We headed out to the Western Slope of Colorado for Memorial Day Weekend.  It was fantastic to be out camping, hiking, eating great food, but most of all spending three full days together.  We left Friday evening, stayed in a hotel Friday night and settled into our campsite on Saturday morning.  The next three days were filled with plenty of relaxation and tons of fun.

Marin "winding down" when we arrived at the hotel in Grand Junction

This big bed is great!

Sleeping in her new sunglasses while holding Mommy's "bobble" and Fuzzy Bear

The tent is all set up!

Altai with his goofy grin on - oh how he loves to be outside!

Hike Day 1 - The Trail Through Time

A diplodocus fossil (part of the spine in the death pose) - there were many dinosaur fossils along our walk

Finishing up the walk

Back at camp

The view from our campsite in Fruita

Hanging out in camp

Daddy and Marin in their sunglasses

Flipping pancakes over an open fire.

Cheese!

Our big girl eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich before we hit the trail on day 2.

On the trail at Rattlesnake Arches.

Mmmm, these flowers smell nice.

Marin learning how to drink through a camelback hose.

Look at that view.

Marin hiked for at least the first mile!  What a trooper.

This is one of seven natural arches.  It was well worth the one hour off-road drive and three mile hike to get to the arches.

Jeep had as much fun on his "hike" as we did on ours

Sitting by the campfire that night

Pete's "floating head" look

Mmm... Root beer in a sippy cup.  I didn't have too much to drink.  Can I drive?

Taking a break for lunch at a rest area in Glenwood Canyon on our way home

Here, Dad. Let me screw the lid back on the peanut butter jar for you!

The Colorado River feels cold!

Out like a light.  Well-earned sleep after a super fun weekend!
