Grand Lake Camping Weekend

We had a wonderful camping trip near Grand Lake. This is the first time we have camped using dispersed camping along a forest service road, and we do not plan to ever go back! We had almost all the conveniences as a car camping site, without any other people.

A large bull elk right out my window on Trail Ridge Road when we drove through Rocky Mountain National Park.

Our cozy little campsite.

Kitchen - next time we will need to bring a portable table to make life a little easier.

It is hard to see, but this moose ran right by our campsite and is in the trees.

Heading out for a hike

Trailhead for our hike to Columbine Lake.

Sweet Baby!

An old cabin was a little ways off the trail and of course we had to explore it.

These two are ready to start building their own cabin!
This was such a beautiful hike.

Checking out a tarn.

We made it! Columbine Lake

Altai has become quite the water dog. He jumps in every time!

Hanging out in the tent while a rainstorm blows through.

Shadow Mountain Reservoir

The water was REALLY chilly.
